You’ve got funding, but can you use it however you like? Not quite. NDIS funding is there to support your goals, but it must be spent on “reasonable and necessary” supports. That means no holidays, no luxury items, and no expenses that fall outside your plan.
Each category—Core, Capacity Building, and Capital—has its own rules. Core funding is the most flexible, but even that has limits. Capacity Building must be used for skill development, and Capital funding is strictly for approved equipment and modifications.
It’s easy to assume you can move money around, but some categories are locked. If you’re unsure, checking before you spend can save a lot of stress later.
